Cristian Prieto was born in Madrid, Spain.
At 15, with only his older sister by his side, he moved to the United States, where he graduated as a filmmaker from New Yorks Film Academy (NYFA), with the highly regarded philosophy, “learning by doing”.

Prieto’s thesis film was titled Bye By Baby and starred his sister, Elsa Pataky. Prieto wore multiple hats on the film—writing, directing, and producing the short which established him as a multi functioning creative.
A year later, he found himself as production assistant, on the film Prodigal, starring Kenneth Branagh, then soon after as a camera operator on the award winning film, “Kumpania”.
An active film maker and photographer, Cristian’s beautiful work had him travelling the globe, landing in Australia in 2004.

In his own words, “ I absolutely fell in love with the vast beautiful landscape and the diverse nature of the country and it’s in habitats and now I can’t see myself living anywhere else in the world”.

This love and keen eye has him producing stunning captures both underwater and on the earth, highlighting the majestic beauty within.

Besides creating his own productions, Prieto served on the production crew for 2017’s highly acclaimed Thor: Ragnarok; the film shot in Queensland, Australia.

As a photographer in demand, Christian, recently shot an editorial for bohemian, fashion brand Spell in his hometown of Byron Bay.

He currently has been working with National Geographic and we cannot wait to see what images he produces apace with WILD EARTH OCEANIA.
